NSF and ATP-Bio is particularly interested in increasing the numbers of women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities in research. If you are currently enrolled in a 4-year university or community college and planning to major in a science discipline (engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or related fields) and are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or its possessions, you are eligible to apply. Undergraduate students are invited to join ATP-Bio researchers in a 10-week summer program to engage in an authentic laboratory experience with a focus on advancements in biopreservation technologies. All engineering research in ATP-Bio is aimed at eliminating or mitigating the three enemies of biopreservation: ice formation, cryoprotective agent (CPA) toxicity, and slow and/or non-uniform rewarming. MGH Summer Academy is collaborating with ATP-Bio REU program to host a number of undergraduate students at MGH to work on ATP-Bio related projects.ĪTP-Bio is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC) co-led by the University of Minnesota and Massachusetts General Hospital with academic partnerships at the University of California-Berkeley and the University of California-Riverside. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program in Biopreservation Technologies As of now, we are accepting applications for 2023, but should the circumstances change, the program may be canceled or postponed following hospital, state and federal guidelines.
